In this multiple themed Masterpiece, we explore many people & their journey together as one, left me astonished. Charles W. Chesnutt is one of America’s great realist writers. Not wanting to reveal her affair with Terry, she keeps quiet. The cast is perfectly chosen, their performance impeccable and cinematography wonderful. It was like a complete amateur trying to emulate the professionalism of a Fellini and failing miserably. The argument ceases when they learn that their daughter Susannah has given birth. On one hand I loved his first English work "This Must Be The Place" starring a wonderful Sean Penn; on the other hand I didn't quite enjoy his Oscar Winner "The Great Beauty". A narcissist, Joseph has several adulterous affairs over the next four decades, and tells everyone that Joan "does not write.". As Joseph and Joan converse, it is apparent that Joan's novel is a reflection of their life together, which bores Joan. Film showed promise with such a good cast; how wrong can one be.
