Khinkali was next on the menu, a kind of dumpling. Satsivi - this was not a hit because of the cold chicken. Just the type of place that you want to be in.
It happens, no big deal. My favorite is Adjaruli with cheese, egg and butter.
In this recipe we show how to make Pkhali with cabbage. Here, in the U.S., I experimented with broccoli and brussels — they are excellent ingredients for pkhali. When I wanted to make it myself, I decided that I'm too lazy to fill and roll eggplants, so I searched and found this dish.
It's a decent size portion that can go as a main course and is vegan.
For vegetarians/vegans, I recommend the pkhali trio (three marinaded vegetable dips best eaten with shotis puri, Georgian oven bread), salad with walnuts, lobio with mchadi (red beans with cornbread), or adjapsandali (an eggplant dish on the lunch menu). A really interesting addition to all of the wonderful cuisine from around the world that we enjoy in New York.
“Pkhali” is, actually, a Georgian name of chard. By Place 2-3 pomegranate seeds on the end of each roll and scatter more around the plate.
lastly, we had the chakapuli which was good. Pkhali is also called mkhali. Inexcusable.
The service was excellent too.A few of my friends told the wait staff it was my birthday, so one of the waitresses came up to me and asked what kind of dessert I prefer for when they shut the lights and blast a very corny, loud, Happy Birthday song so I can blow out the candles. // I am so excited for the release of my f, yesterday’s proper adult lunch @robertaspizza //, about 2 tsp spice mix (or substitute 1/2 tsp crushed coriander seeds or 1/4 tsp ground coriander + 1/4 tsp ground fenugreek + pinch cayenne pepper + 1 tsp tarragon + 1/4 tsp dried mint), white wine vinegar, about 1/2 tsp, to taste, Pomegranate seeds/molasses or walnut pieces for garnish. Admittedly, that makes it difficult to judge versus it's other Georgian peers. No second entree...we waited, and waited, and after 5 minutes I stopped the waitress and asked, is the Cornish hen coming? Welcome to the eG Forums, a service of the eGullet Society for Culinary Arts & Letters.
My dinner mates got the meat varieties, with pork and lamb i think. The menu is so diverse, you can find everything for everyone. The khinkali were well made, though they have less meat in them than I'm used to (this is not a bad thing, really). The flavors were just different, without being cheeky or pretentious. We moved on to beef and pork Khinkali and received 3 dumplings. But khinkali dumplings wasn't made right and pkhali vegetable appetizer just didn't made with enough spices was blend, I understand Manhattan pricing but it's not as good as georgian food in Brooklyn. Pkhali Trio à Oda House "Came here because I wanted to try a different cuisine.
Pkhali (ფხალი) is a signature Georgian appetizer.
